Rake
The sloped edge of a gable roof that runs from the eave to the ridge.
Definition
The rake is the sloped edge of a gable roof that runs from the eave up to the ridge along the gable end. Unlike the eave, which is horizontal and typically has gutters, the rake is angled and runs parallel to the roof pitch. Drip edge is installed along the rake over the underlayment (versus under the underlayment at the eave). Rake trim and rake shingles finish the appearance of the gable end.
