Pipe Jack
A flashing assembly that seals around a vent pipe penetrating the roof.
Definition
A pipe jack (also called a pipe flashing or pipe boot) is a flashing assembly that seals around a vent pipe where it penetrates the roof. It consists of a metal base flange and a rubber or neoprene collar that fits tightly around the pipe. Pipe jacks typically last 10-15 years before the rubber collar cracks and leaks. Failed pipe jacks are one of the most common sources of roof leaks and should be inspected during every roof replacement.
